What is Magi Season 3: The Labyrinth of Magic

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is a Japanese animation series that was published in  Weekly Shōnen Sunday. It is also loosely based on 1001 Arabian nights. It is a 50 episode series adapted by A-1 pictures from the short and Sunday manga of the same name.

The first season of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic was telecast from October 2012 to March 2013.

And then the second season was released with the title Magi: The Kingdom of magic which ran from October 2013 to March 2014. Its third season is about to release between 2021 and 2022.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic begged 59th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2014. It has an IMDB rating of 7.8 out of 10. 

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic Season 1 Summary

The setting of Magi is in a fantasy world which resembles more like ancient Arabia. The story starts with the meeting of Alibaba and Aladdin, who are the main characters of the series, who decide to capture the dungeon.

Magi’s world consists of many dungeons which can be only captured by the future kings. But still, they decide to capture the dungeon, in this dungeon is a giant building with tower-like structures on the ground.

At the top of the tower, there is an ear of the dungeon that has a Jinn which has its own unique power and ability to grant magical power to the conqueror along with the riches inside the dungeon. The Djinn confines himself to a metal vessel.

Aladdin also has its own Jinn. After conquering the Dungeon Aladdin, Alibaba and a slave called Morgiana continue their journey. Alladin and Morgiana meet a man with no clothes named Sinbad who is the first dungeon capturer and also a king of the island named Sindria.

Sinbad was robbed by thieves.He is the first Dungeon capturer.

Magi is created and illustrated by Shinobu Ohtaka and was published by Shogakukan.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic was directed by Kōji Masunari and Hiroo Maruyama ,Tomoyuki Saitō , Tomonori Ochikoshi , Hiroyuki Shimizu and Shunsuke Saitō were its producers.Hiroyuki Yoshino was the writer of the series. And its Music was given by Shirō Sagisu.

Aladdin: Aladdin is one of the main characters of the series, He is a young boy who has a flute that has a djinn in it.

He also has a magical turban that can be changed into a carpet. He has a Djinn named ‘Ugo’.Later in the series, he acquires the Wisdom of Solomon which helps him to connect with dead people in Rukh.

He is one of the Magi who is selected to choose candidates for future kings. He does not know much about himself and his past. He can do heat magic by creating big and small fireballs that can be used to chase the target.He has blue hair tied to a single braid.  

Alibaba Saluja: He is the illegitimate son of Balbadd’s king and the third prince of the kingdom. As a dungeon capturer, he has a Djinn Amon and King’s vessel.

He met Aladdin when he was working as a cart driver after escaping from the Balbadd kingdom after a fire broke in the kingdom for which he was responsible. He became one of the leaders of the frog Troupe.

He was killed by Hakuryuu and came back to life with the help of Alma torran magicians in order to save the world from destruction. He has the bearings of a hermit which is revealed by mother Dragon. 

Morgianna: She is the beautiful slave girl of Jamil who is from the Dark continent.

Alibaba and Aladdin rescue her from the Jamil trap. She is an emotionless girl because of years of abuse from Jamil. She has powerful limbs. She is kind-hearted.

Ren Hakuryuu: He is the fourth prince of the Kou empire.

He has a Djinn Zagan whose power is a Green thumb which means he has a supernatural power to control plants. He has a guan dao which he uses in battles. He seems like a nice guy in the beginning but his evil intentions were revealed later on. He develops feelings for Morgianna. He also has burn marks on his left eye.

Kashim/Cassim: He is Alibaba’s friend who becomes a rebel after the death of his sister and decides to unite with Alibaba in order to work against the king. 

Ahmad Saluja: He is the half-brother of Alibaba and the previous king of Balbadd

Sahbmad Saluja: Ex-Deputy king of Balbadd and Alibaba’s half brother. He is shy and cowardly and was helping Fog trope to defeat Ahbmad.

Ren Hakuei: She is the third princess and General of the Kou Empire. She is also a Dungeon capturer and has a Djinn Paimon which has a specialty in blowing away. 

Ren Kougyoku: Kou Empire’s eighth Princess. Her Djinn has the power of making a splash. As she is the illegitimate daughter of the king, everybody distanced themselves from her and that is why she was the lonely princess.

Ka Koubun: He is the attendant of Ren Kougyoku. He is very manipulative and has heart-reading powers.

Judal: He is Kou Empire Magi and Sinbad’s old friend. He has control over ice and can freeze things at will. He also has the power to control lighting and electricity. Uses Blog as a shield. He loves war .

Al-Sarmen: Al-Sarmen is an evil organization whose motive is to spread hunger, poverty, war, and discrimination around the country. 

Banker: The finance head of Kou Empire 

Isnan: Al-Sarmen member working for capturing Zagan’s dungeons with the help of Princess Dunya.

Sinbad: Leader of seven seas and the King of Sindria. First capturer of the dungeon. He has the ability to cancel magic and has elementary powers from mental vessels and seven Djinn. 

Ja’far: He is one of the eight generals of the Sinbad empire and is very loyal towards his country.

Masrur: One of the members of Sindria’s generals. And just like Morganna, a member of the Fanalis tribe. 

Sharrkan: He is the finest swords person in Sindria and a member of Sindria’s eight generals. 

Yamlaykha: She is a pro in water magic and is one of the eight generals of Sindria.She has the power of invisibility and can communicate with Rukh to see the past.   

Hinahoho, Pisti,Spartos and Drakon: They are the member of Sindria’s eight general. Pisti has a flute and with the help of her flute and voice, she can communicate with animals Rukh and be friends with them. Spatos is from Sasan and Drakon is from Partevia Empire.

There is no confirmed news on when season 3 will release but it is expected to release between 2021 and 2022.
