No Game No Life is a Japanese anime series that follows the adventures of two siblings, Sora and Shiro, who are gamers and are challenged by the god of games in a series of board games. Whoever wins ascends to the throne of the god of games.

The anime is adapted from the light novels of the same name by Yu Kamiya. Season 1 of No Game No Life began airing in April 2014. The anime is directed by Atsuko Ishizuka and animation done by the Japanese animation studio, Madhouse.

The genre of the series is isekai and fantasy. The first season was critically and popularly acclaimed with praise directed towards the show’s plot, character design, and animation. Fans have eagerly been awaiting the release of No Game No Life Season 2 ever since No Game No Life Season 1 ended in June 2014.

The first season of No Game No life ended with the siblings realizing that the key is for the gamers to play and fight together and for each other and not against one another. The episode ends with Kurami and Fii’s departure and the accidental summoning of the Old Deus through the Shrine Priestess by Sora. No Game No Life Season 2 Release Date

No Game No Life Season 2 is expected to see a release either in 2022 or a year later. So far, neither the creators nor the channel has made any official announcements or statements about the release date of No Game No Life Season 2. However, safe to say, No Game No Life Season 2 is for sure happening.

There are several reasons for this. To verify the future fate of any television series, it is helpful to look at the ratings the previous seasons have garnered, how much revenue the show has generated for the creators, and how much source material from the manga is left to be adapted. Upon its release in Japan, each of the six disks of No Game No Life sold over 9,000 copies and an additional 1,000 copies sold out when the series was released in BD-Box.

These are enough sales to ensure that fans will get to see more seasons of the series. Revenue-wise, the No Game No Life merchandise has managed to sell quite well and new figures are still being introduced to the line in 2020.

This could only happen if fans were still curious about the series and generating demand. The movie adaptation of the series titled, No Game No Life: Zero, made around $6.5 million at the box office and earned the creators additional profit when 40,000 of its Blu-Ray copies got sold in Japan.

Sora voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka: Sora is one of the show’s central protagonists. He is an extremely skilled hikikomori (reclusive gamer) who has an indifferent outlook towards life. He dedicates most of his time to gaming. He is clever and unscrupulous by nature. He is Shiro’s older step-brother. 

Shiro voiced by Ai Kayano: Shiro is another of the show’s main characters. She is 11 years old and Sora’s younger step-sister. Shiro is quiet and unexpressive by nature. She is a genius at puzzles and logic. She has an almost unhealthy attachment to Sora and cannot stand to be separated from him for even a minute.

Stephanie Dola voiced by Yoko Hikasa: Stephanie is the princess heir to Immanity, the human race in the Disboard world. She has a proud and emotional attitude. At a later point in the series, she develops romantic feelings for Sora.

Chlammy Zell voiced by Yuka Iguchi: Chlammy is a human being who forms an association with the elves to win the game based on her belief that humans on their own lack the strength needed to survive and conquer and, therefore, must take the aid of other species. She is a close friend of Fiel Nilvalen. 

Jibril voiced by Yukari Tamura: Jibril is the most powerful member of the race of the Flugels. After losing to Sora and Shiro, she becomes their servant. She too has unresolved feelings for Sora. She has a courteous yet proud disposition. 

Feil Nilvalen as Mamiko Noto: Fiel Nilvalen is commonly known as Fii and is a member of the elf race and a friend of Chlammy, who is revealed to be a slave to the Nilvalen family. Fii is shown to place Chlammy above her species.
