Who is Akira Fudo

Akira Fudo is the main lead of the anime series called Devilman Crybaby. He was originally born as a human but later gained the power of the demon Amon after he was inducted into a Sabbath ritual. The organizer of the ritual was Akira’s best friend Ryo Asuka.

Akira Fudo Appearance

Akira Fudo’s appearance in his teenage years was not like the usual teens. He appeared to be weak and had a slim body. His hair color was brown and he had mullet-like hair at the back.

However, after he transformed into Devilman, his appearance changed completely.

His height increased and he became taller. He had dark circles around his eyes and kept his hair messy. His cleft chin also became noticeable. His skin color became bluish-gray.

His hair had sprouts that resembled small wings from the side. His hair also formed antenna-like shape from the top and his forehead became red. He also grew wings and a monkey-like tail.

Akira Fudo History

Akira Fudo was separated from his family at an early age and was then adopted by the Makimura family.

He had the tendency to cry instantly about any minor issue for which he was immensely bullied and discriminated against. The only one who supported him was his foster sister Miki Makimura.

One day he met his childhood friend, Ryo Asuka who told him that demons actually existed. Asuka had been learning and dealing with such entities and had credibility in this information. Ryo only trusted Akira, so he told him everything about these demons.

He also believed that Akira is the only one who can help him in his mission to defeat these demons who would come back to life and claim what was once theirs. Since Akira was pure and innocent, Asuka believed that Akira would be able to defeat these demons.

However, Akira eventually ended up merging with a demon Amon and went through a transformation. In this transformation, his whole body features changed and he became nearly unrecognizable. He became a hybrid between a man and a demon and was called a Devilman.

Akira Fudo Special Skills

As a human, Akira did not have much physical strength. However, after his transformation, his physical strength increased manifolds. He would run at a very fast speed and be able to open locked doors. He would also beat up five thugs using only one of his arms.

Being a Devilman, he would tear up his enemies before they could even retaliate. Such was his jaw strength, that he could tear off the flesh from the enemies’ body. He could also slice through their body with no effort.

The horns that grew on his head increased his hearing abilities and he was able to detect presence based on the changing air pressure and sound waves surrounding him.

The wings which grew on his back also increased his abilities to fly high in the air and taking leaps.

He would also glide through the air and fly for long distances. He could also manifest and achieve additional physical features like elastic limbs, raising his body temperature to destroy his enemies and cause an explosion, and also night vision. Since the demons could come back to life, causing an explosion did not harm him.

He had an “extraordinary intellect” owing to him scoring the best grades in his class
He could fly high and take high leaps
He had the ability to release electric charges to harm his enemies if they came into contact with him
He was able to shoot beams from the antennas that grew on his head
He could teleport himself through solid objects
He could increase his body size
He could regenerate any lost body parts like arms or limbs
He had telepathic powers to communicate with other demons
He can possess objects
He gained psychic abilities that could tear through the flesh of his enemies

Akira Fudo Weakness

He had a weak body prior to his transformation as a devilman. He also had weak willpower. Some of his other weaknesses are:

Acts on impulse without much thinking
To be able to regenerate body parts, he requires additional biological matter
Has a lot of pent-up anger and frustration which makes him act rashly

Akira Fudo’s character in the anime series is a teenager.

Akira Fudo Personality

Before his transformation when he was a normal human being, Akira used to be a sensitive child and would always be ready to help anyone and everyone. He would also cry very easily for the smallest of issues for which he was often bullied.

After he transformed into a Devilman, his attitude and personality changed. He would go around openly challenging thugs to fight with him. He also acted rashly and on impulse. His sexual desires also grew. His human side would be visible when he cared for and helped people from the demons.

His only love interest was Miri, who was eventually killed by an angry mob. Akira then went on to release heat from his and cause an explosion to kill the mob that killed his dear one.

Akira was also protective of his friend Ryo. However, later when it was revealed that his friend was actually Satan in disguise, and had planned out the things and brought chaos in the world, he did not stop himself from fighting against him.

He fought against his “friend” and ended up dying in the battle.

Akira Fudo Trivia

An interesting trivia about Akira was revealed when Kaim had been recording Akira on a monitor, the date that was displayed was the birthdate of Akira, 8 September 1994. He was said to be 16 years old in the anime series.
