Who is Mirio Togata?

Mirio Togata is a character appearing in the hit Japanese anime series, My Hero Academia. He is a student of class 3-B at U.A. High School, undergoing training to become a Pro Hero.

He is one of the three strongest students in U.A. High School, a group collectively known as the Big 3. Mirio Togata was supposed to be the student to whom All Might passes on his quirk, known as One For All. Mirio’s quirk is called ‘Permeation’ and his superhero alias is ‘Lemillion.’ 

Mirio Togata Appearance

Mirio Togata is a tall person with a strong muscular build. He has oval-shaped blue eyes, a round nose, and a long, handsome face. He has blond hair, the tops which are styled into a cowlick.

His eyebrows are long and bushy and slant sharply upwards. Mirio sports multiple scars that are visible near the lower part of his arm. He has a body toned through hard training and is usually seen wearing a smile on his face.

He visually and physically bears a close resemblance to All Might.

During school hours he wears the standard U.A. uniform prescribed for male students, a plain dress shirt paired with deep turquoise pants and a red tie. He usually foregoes wearing the grey blazer worn by most other male students. Additionally, Mirio wears a brown belt with a buckle shaped like a gold carnivorous mouth on its front.

Mirio’s superhero costume consists of a tight white shirt with the digits 1,000,000 plated across the front in big yellow font. He has pads on his shoulders of a similar color.

His pads are crossed by two green lines that match the color of his belt, which consists of two green straps that dip sharply in the middle forming a double V. Mirio also has two yellow lines on his shirt running down on both sides of his torso.

There are also deep blue tights paired with knee-length white boots and finished off with a scarlet cape and gloves as well as a visor.

Mirio Togata Personality

Mirio is a cheerful, relaxed individual with a bright sense of humor. He is constantly cracking jokes to lighten the atmosphere and is not afraid to make fun of himself to bring a smile to someone’s face.

He is extremely open and friendly, and great at communication, having a jolly, sociable personality. Mirio is, however, extremely focused and serious when it comes to his training.

He is not lazy and is always looking for ways to improve his quirk and become stronger.

Once as a child he was saved by a Pro Hero and that was when Mirio decided that he would become a great hero himself. He is kind, brave, and tenacious and possesses a prudent, wise sense of judgment.

He is fearless and relentless in battle, not scared by villains even of the likes of Overhaul. Mirio would immediately risk his life if it meant saving those of others and is a firm believer in the cause of the greater good.

Having a quirk like permeation, that was perceived as being too troublesome and uncontrolled, Mirio trained twice as hard to get better at wielding it and has turned his power into a powerful, unmatched weapon.

It is not surprising to see why All Might have chosen Mirio as the top candidate to inherit the unparalleled quirk of One For All.

Mirio Togata Abilities

Enhanced physique: Mirio has managed to make his body extremely powerful and durable through excruciating effort. Mirio possesses exceptional strength, stamina, speed, and agility. A single punch by him is enough to overpower his opponents.

He is also able to move through the battlefield with commendable swiftness, delivering attacks that are accurate, precise, and flawlessly calculated. 

Complete mastery over quirk: Mirio has extraordinary control over his quirk, unparalleled not only among U.A. students but heroes in general. Mirio has to perform a series of physically and mentally taxing tactics to put his quirk to effective combative use.

For anyone else, putting this much effort to simply make a quirk work would seem like a gigantic, painful task, especially as it is to be performed in split-seconds during battles, but Mirio does it without breaking a sweat.

Mirio has faced many evil villains in the past, many of whom had notorious strength and used gross intimidation tactics, but Mirio has always remained focussed and unaffected. Thus, it is not only complete confidence in himself and his training that makes Mirio a master of his quirk, but also his tenacious nature and unshakable will.

Intelligence: Mirio possesses exceptional mental and deductive prowess.

He is ingenious and possesses a razor-sharp intellect, something which is not immediately visible to others due to his joking, relaxed nature. Mirio, however, is skilled and adept at forming battle strategies on-the-spot and using his quirk in a way that helps him defeat his opponents most effectively and efficiently.

Mirio, for instance, wiped out half of class 1-A in 6 seconds.

Mirio Togata Quirk 

Permeation: Mirio’s quirk allows him to move through solid objects.

Mirio can use permeation on both select body parts and also on his full body.

Though difficult to master at first (Mirio’s couldn’t phase through a wooden plank in middle school), owing to his hardworking and determined nature, Mirio was able to achieve control and eventually, mastery over his quirk.

His quirk give him both an offensive and defensive advantage: Mirio can dodge attacks and deliver swift attacks that catch his opponents off-guard. 

Mirio Togata Special Moves

Phantom Menace: Mirio uses this technique to move/phase quickly through objects. He crosses over an object and then pushes himself to regain solid form because of which he is pushed out of that solid object as he can meld with it no more.

Then, he again makes himself intangible and enters into an object and then again becomes solid to exit it. The cycle repeats as long as Mirio needs it to. The move helps Mirio move and strike at his opponents precisely and create maximum damage to the enemies’ team.

Blinder Touch Eyeball Crush: Mirio makes his arm permeable and pretends as if he is poking his enemy in the eye and then delivers a powerful gut-punch.

• Mirio’s birthday is on July 15, the same as Izuku Midoriya.
• His blood type is O.
• In the Japanese anime series, he is voiced by Tarusuke Shingaki, and in the English dub by Ricco Fajardo.
• His favorite dish is ramen.
• He has chosen the alias ‘Lemillion’ for himself because he wishes to save at least a million people in his lifetime.
• Mirio’s surname contains the kanji words for “through” and “form” while his first name is taken from “million.”
