Who is Momo Yaoyorozu?

Momo Yaoyorozu is a female character appearing in the hit Japanese anime series, My Hero Academia. She is a student and deputy class rep of class 1-A in U.A. High School, undergoing training to become a Pro Hero. She got admission into U.A. based on recommendation. Momo’s superhero alias is ‘Everything Hero: Creati’ and her quirk is Creation.

Momo Yaoyorozu Appearance

Momo Yaoyorozu is a tall and slim girl with a healthy, curvy body.

She has thick, voluminous black hair that sprouts off her ponytail in a wild fashion and a long, chin-length strand of hair that hangs down the right side of her face. The rest of the sections of her hair are neatly slicked back.

Momo has dark eyes that slant upward, a small mouth and nose, and a pointy chin, giving her a slight feline appearance. During school hours, Momo wears the standard uniform prescribed for female U.A. students, a white dress shirt under a grey blazer and a red tie, coupled with brown shoes and knee-length black socks.

Her superhero costume consists of a maroon leotard with a slightly wide split down the middle to expose her skin for her quirk to work. Her top is sleeveless and high-collared and paired with two deep yellow utility belts strapped around her waist.

Momo wears tight, shiny boots with the same color as that of her top. Her costume facilitates her Creation quirk, allowing her to quickly draw out objects from the portions where her skin is exposed.

Her winter costume is the same except it additionally contains a long, deep red cape and a gold chain on her neck with a red stone in the middle.

Momo Yaoyorozu Personality

Momo is a focused, diligent individual of a meticulous nature.

Momo’s skills are testified by the fact that she gained admission into U.A., the most prestigious institute for heroes-in-training, solely based on recommendation. Momo is hardworking and studious with a flawless academic record.

She placed first in the mid-term exams. Momo has a calm and prudent approach to everything and is an all-rounder. She has exceptional observational skills, able to read combat scenarios, and people’s fighting styles within minutes.

During the Battle Trial activity, she could explain Izuku’s, Bakugo’s, and Ochaco’s weaknesses ahead of All Might. 

There is, however, a flipside to Momo’s personality.

For all her well-roundedness and exceptional theoretical skills, Momo lacks confidence in her abilities. Despite having plenty of courage and intelligence, Momo hesitates to exert her will in team activities, having lost her confidence when easily defeated by Tokoyami during the Sports Festival.

However, in time she regains trust in her ability and plays a key role in apprehending Professor Aiwaza, leading to her and Todoroki passing their final practical exam. Momo is extremely focused on her goal to become a Pro Hero and willing to bear difficult situations to further her developments.

This is exemplified when she dutifully completes her tasks during her internship despite her internship being little to no action and comprising only media work and taking care of a celebrity female hero.

Momo, though wary of the way the internship is turning out, reasons that these are things she will have to brave through if she ever wishes to be a great hero.

As her training progresses, Momo becomes a better, more confident fighter who learns from her classmates to further improve her abilities and in time becomes a force to be reckoned with. 

Momo Yaoyorozu Abilities

Skillful fighter: Momo displays a good grasp of her quirk and the possibilities of using her quirk in battle. She has competent combative skills and a thirst to prove herself.

She is brave, courageous and does not mind putting herself in harm’s way.

Momo can create a variety of weapons to both launch attacks and make defensive moves. Momo’s bojutsu or fighting style using bo staffs is particularly commendable, capable of throwing off multiple enemies in one go.

She performs great in teams, able to assist her teammates, and use stealth to take her opponents by surprise. Momo’s quirk is highly diverse and potentially very powerful.

The only thing stopping Momo from becoming invincible in battle is her lack of confidence and inability to make quick decisions in combat, however, she greatly improves on both these aspects through hard work and intense training. 

Exceptional Intelligence: Momo is a genius when it comes to learning, academics, and observation. She has the ability to come up with good plans, despite her occasionally lacking confidence to implement them.

She is a well-balanced individual, capable of maintaining top scores alongside strict and intense training. She is also a natural leader and the deputy class rep of class 1-A.

She is also adept at memorizing and understanding molecular structures of a variety of objects, a feat which though difficult is central to her quirk. Momo is also a reliable classmate and a good teacher, who tutored her classmates and helped them all pass the written tests during finals.

Musical genius: Being trained in music from a young age, Momo is adept and skillful at playing the piano, among other instruments. 

Momo Yaoyorozu Quirk

Creation: Momo’s quirk allows her to create and draw out objects from her body, the only condition being that that portion of her body must be exposed at that time. Her quirk is limited to the creation of non-living things and objects.

Her quirk happens through Momo altering the molecular organization of her body’s fat cells. Thus, for Momo to be able to create something, she must know its molecular design. Momo needs to keep herself well-fed for her body to produce and create objects quickly and efficiently.

The bigger the object to be created, the more Momo’s skin needs to be exposed, leading to her tearing her costume when she tries to create extra-large objects in haste. Momo uses her quirks to create all kinds of weapons to attack and defend herself in battle.

If Momo exerts herself too much without re-energizing her fat cells by eating, she can become drained and anemic. As part of her improvement, Momo focused on keeping her energy levels in check by eating well and reducing the amount of time needed to create something. 

Momo Yaoyorozu Special Moves

Yaoyorozu’s Lucky Bag: Through this move, Momo draws out a large cannon from her body, which can fire out all the objects in Momo’s arsenal that she can create with her quirk.

• Momo’s birthday is on September 23.
• In the Japanese anime series, she is voiced by Marina Inoue, and in the English dub by Colleen Clinkenbeard.
• She belongs to a very rich family.
• Momo loves reading encyclopedias.
• Originally Horikoshi, the creator of the My Hero Academia manga series, was going to assign Momo’s quirk to a Pro Hero but thought it would make for better character development to give such an overpowered ability to a beginner who has much to learn.
• If not for the legal restrictions that forbid heroes to reveal their skin beyond a limit, Momo’s outfit would exhibit more flesh.
