Shota Aizawa Appearance, Personality, Abilities, Equipment, Battles, Superpowers [2020]

Are you a fan of Shota Aizawa? In this post, we are going to look at Shota Aizawa’s Appearance, Personality, Abilities, Equipment, Battles, Superpowers.

Who is Shota Aizawa?

Shota Aizawa is a character appearing in the hit Japanese anime series, My Hero Academia. Shota Aizawa is a certified Pro Hero and a faculty member at the prestigious U.A. High School. He is the homeroom teacher of class 1-A of the hero course. His quirk is Erasure and his superhero alias is ‘Eraserhead.’

Shota Aizawa Appearance

Shota is a slender man of above-average height. He has unkempt wavy black hair that comes to his shoulders and pale skin. His eyes are black and his eyelids are always half-closed (except when he is in battle), giving him a tired and drowsy appearance.

Shota wears an all-black outfit with a black and blue utility belt and black calf-length boots. He also wears his scarf at all times, underneath which he hides his goggles which he uses in combat. This costume doubles as both his teacher outfit and his battle gear.

Shota wears formal attire like a suit for press meetings and his normally unkempt hair is pushed back into a neat low bun. During other times such as when is free or relaxing, he wears casual clothes and his hair is tied into a messy bun.

Shota Aizawa Personality

Aizawa is a calm, distant, and aloof person.

He does not believe in pretensions of any kind, opting not to change either his appearance or his words to please others.

As a teacher, he is honest and straightforward in his expectations of his students and does not hesitate to push them far and beyond to help them fulfill them. He is even said to expel those who fail or perform poorly in his classes, though these claims usually exist to scare students into working hard and are largely unfounded.

This is Shota’s way of utilizing what he calls a ‘rational deception.’

He incessantly pushes students to improve their skills to make them better prepared for the darkness that lies in the real world.

Despite his cold exterior, he cares deeply for his students and is secretly proud of the progress they have made since the beginning of the year. Shota has put his life and reputation on the line multiple times to save his students.

His attitude with his colleagues is a little less rigid, though no less distant. He appears to have a good relationship with Present Mic and All Might and has a good rapport with the principal and other Pro Heroes as well.

Shota Aizawa Abilities

Skilled fighter: Shota is incredibly skilled in terms of fighting and close combat.

He has a calm, relentless, and cautious fighting style that allows him to fight enemies while also protecting those in need. Since he specializes in close-range battle because of his quirk, Shota uses hand-to-hand combat to overpower his opponents.

He first uses his quirk to erase his opponents’ and then unleashes his special scarf or Capturing Weapon to trap and immobilize one or more of them. He has a special advantage over those who overly rely upon their quirks in battle because this means that their main source of power was their quirk, which Shota can easily erase, and not combative skill.

Shota displayed his skill amply during the U.S.J. Incident where he fought multiple members of the League of Villains, defeating them all quite easily. Shota is also resilient and preserving and even when he is at his limits, he finds a way to keep going.

For instance, he still jumped in to save Tsuyu from SHigaraki even after Shota’s elbow had been shattered by the latter and he was getting beaten to a pulp by a Nomu. Shota is a brave and courageous fighter who takes his role as a teacher very seriously and always puts his life at risk to make sure his students are safe.

Intelligence: Shota has a keen and highly analytical mind.

As a teacher, he can keep his students in check while also encouraging them to get better.

He has used his ‘logical deception’ on multiple occasions to make sure his students do not slack off in class and exams.

He has incredible observational and discerning abilities and can understand a person’s quirk as well as their strengths and weaknesses after seeing them in action just once. During the Sports Festival, he provided insightful information about each student’s combative prowess and fighting capabilities.

He knew before anyone else what it was that Ochaco was planning to unleash on Bakugo.

He also knows how to adapt his quirk to different fighting styles and usually manages to evaluate and be in control of all the factors in a battle, for example, during the Vanguard Action Squad Invasion, he knew the students would die if they did not use their quirks to defend themselves, so he passed an order permitting them to do the same.

Shota Aizawa Quirk

Shota’s quirk is called erasure. He has the power to make a person’s quirk non-existent just by looking at them. The nullifying effect on the person’s quirk can continue even if they are out of Shota’s field of vision.

While a powerful quirk and a daunting one to counter, Aizawa’s powers have a few drawbacks:

After sustaining dire injuries at the U.S.J. incident, Shota finds that he cannot keep his eyes open for as long as he could before and that he has to take brief breaks between erasure to keep himself from going overboard.

Shota Aizawa Special Moves

Binding Cloth: Shota unleashes the scarf-like object around his neck, which is actually a Capturing Weapon, to wrap it around his opponent to immobilize them while making their quirks ineffective simultaneously.

This is a very effective maneuver as it has the potential to render Shota’s enemies powerless almost instantaneously.
