Who is Escanor in Seven Deadly Sins?

Escanor is ginger-haired, blue-eyed, 165-325cm tall male human of the Japanese animated series The Seven Deadly Sins.

The anime The Seven Deadly Sins or Nanatsu no Taizai is an adventure and fantasy genre based manga.

The manga was written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki, published by Kodansha in  the magazine Weekly Shonen Magazine.

The Seven Deadly Sins got adapted into an anime in 2014 and after a four-year run it ended. The series was produced by A-1 pictures and also has two films, one released and one upcoming.

Escanor also known as the Lion’s Sin of Pride is one of the main characters of The Seven Deadly Sins.

He is a powerful member of the Seven Deadly Sins. The character is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita in Japanese and Kyle Hebert in English.

Why is Escanor Called the One?

Escanor has many aliases including The One, Cursed Child, Lion’s Sin of Pride, Master of the Sun, The Strongest Holy Knight and The One Ultimate.

Escanor’s power level is constantly fluctuating.

His power level cannot be measured for a long period of time, the lowest recorded is 15 during the entirety of night and the highest recorded is 114,000 just before noon. 

At peak noon, Escanor’s power level reaches its maximum and he becomes The One.

Escanor is easily able to surpass characters around him.

However, “The One” takes a toll on his body because he has to use his years from his life to use this ability and it is possible that it could lead to his death.

Escanor makes use of his “The One” form and engages in a fight with the Demon King.

The One was enough to defeat the Demon King, unfortunately, The One form took a strain on his body and led to disintegrating his life.

Escanor used every bit of his power level for his final attack on the Demon King and finally met his death.

Did Escanor Really Die in Seven Deadly Sins?

Yes, Escanor of The Seven Deadly Sins did die.

He becomes the strongest person by day and a weak person by night. Unfortunately, while using his “The One” power level he faced his demise.

How did Escanor Die

In the show, The Seven Deadly Sins, it can be seen that Escanor to match the Demon King’s level uses his “The One” form to its ultimate which led to his demise.

Initially, During the fight with the Demon King Escanor felt that he wasn;t on the same level as the Demon King.

So, he activated his “Ultimate” form but his body took a huge toll from this form.

The Ultimate used Escanor’s body as fuel which caused him harm but it was too late for him to stop it as his body was already past its limit.

In his final moments, Escanor decided to die a honourable death.

Escanor’s Last Words Before His Death

In the end. Escanor confessed his true love toward Merlin even if he was merely her test subject.

Yet, Escanor was happy that Merlin would remember her in some way or the other.

Finally, Escanor was engulfed in his own flames.

Escanor Armor

Escanor used to wear full body armor when he was younger.

The armor has a unique helm but yet it was too large for him. The armor didn’t fit him properly during the early mornings or night and was too small during the day, especially the noon.

This was Escanor’s first armor.

Later on in the series The Seven Deadly Sins, we can get a look of Escanor’s second armor.

Escanor used to melt his armor and incinerate others who were around him. Just a single hit of this ability and equipment was deadly as it even caused a huge lake to evaporate in a split second.

Escanor vs Estarossa

Escanor challenged Estarossa of the Ten Commandments during the Demon Clans invasion of Liones.

The battle took place near the Kingdom of Liones. During the battle, the viewers come to know that Escanor was not affected by the commandments because he didn’t the people below them but in fact pitied them.

This led to a huge battle scene between the two. Estarossa made a hit while Escanor was describing his past and the people around the scene started wondering if Escanor was even strong enough to defeat Estarossa.

Estarossa had completely taken over the battle and Escanor was on his knees. However, Escanor managed to strike back by using his “Sun” abilities.

Escanor made Estarossa realize that only he is in control of his powers and commands Estarossa to die. In the end, Escanor comes out victorious.
